- No
more than 9 school days may be allocated for exams (inclusive of Nova Scotia exams)

Of the 195 teacher
days, the following days may be used:
- no more than 8 days
for organizational and administrative purposes or for in-service training
programs;
- 1 organizational day (September 2, 2008);
- 2 common marking days (June 24 and 25, 2009) + 1 other marking day by school;
- CANCELLED - 1 regional inservice
day;
- 4 school-based days (either
4 inservice days, or 5 inservice days (in place of the 3rd marking
day)
- All teachers are required to
be present on the days used for organizational and administrative
purposes or inservice
training programs and parent-teacher meetings. Pupils are not required to be
present.
- In addition, 2 half-days for purposes of parent-teacher
meetings.
- In addition, one October conference day
(Oct 24).

In addition, a maximum of 8 Early Dismissals from banked time. (Early Dismissals require that
students be in school for a minimum of 3
hours of instructional time. You cannot combine 2
half-day early dismissals to form a full
day. You may combine 1 half-day
school-based inservice
with 1 half-day parent teacher to form 1 full
day.
*Special Notes Regarding Closing Ceremonies and
Report Card Distribution dates for June 2009:
- The earliest date you may have for an
official closing ceremony/graduation with distribution of
report cards for the highest grade
level in your school is the evening of June 25, 2009 (day 193).
- Special
year end ceremonies held prior to June 25 shall not be referred to as
“closings” or
“graduations”
(please use: ceremony, celebration, etc).
As well, report cards cannot be handed
out at
these events.
- In situations where there is a school
within a school (example, both a middle school and high school
exists within your school), the highest
grade level of the second school (example, grade 9) may also
have a closing ceremony/graduation and
receive report cards on the evening of June 25th.
- The earliest date for all other middle
level school closings is the afternoon of June
26,
2009 (day
194); however, report cards cannot be
handed out until the following Monday June 29th (day 195).
- The earliest date for all other high
school closings is the morning of June 29th (day 195).
